Fighting disease-carrying snails in Kenya
September 2025
Amir, Amit, and Noa traveled to Kenya to advance a groundbreaking biological control project. The mission, sponsored by the Israeli Ambassador to Kenya, formed a joint working group upon arrival, which included two researchers from the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KMRI). This group successfully identified sites for a future POC using the monosex prawn populations technology.
This dual project targets the control of schistosomiasis-transmitting snails in community water sources and the mitigation of Apple Snails in rice ponds, offering a sustainable biotechnological solution to critical public health and economic challenges in the region.
