just came back from an amazing retreat with our collaborators from the Schwille and Grohmann labs at the Max Planck institute in Munchen where we enjoyed a grate blend of good science, alcohol and hiking.

Congratulation to Inna for the recent publication in Cell Reports
Though it wasn’t easy, it showed that hard work and a collaborative lab effort eventually pay off.
In her work Inna showed that:
- 3D STROM can be used to resolve the structure of the ESCRT machine in cytokinesis.
- ESCRT-III organizes into narrowing cortical spirals to drive abscission.
- Abscission involves polymerization and depolymerization of the ESCRT-III spiral.
- Depletion of individual ESCRT components affects ESCRT-III structure and function.
