Dr. Vicente J. Ontiveros

I am a Margarita Salas post-doctoral researcher at the University of Girona (Spain), visiting BGU for a year. I am interested in the spatio-temporal dynamics of ecological communities, using models to gain knowledge across multiple scales. In my free time, I like running, birdwatching, and to discover new stories, whether it’s with a book, a podcast, or a movie.

Dafna Arbel

I am a masters student of biology at BGU. My research concerns spatial multilayer ecological networks. I am also interested in immunology and genetics. My hobbies include music, the cinema, and traveling.

Noa Frydman

I am a 3rd-year biology student at BGU and working in the lab as a data analyst. My main interests are genetics, ecology and microbiology. Currently I am working on data collection to develop an ecological network database for the lab. My hobbies include traveling, hiking and growing plants.

Noa later got accepted as a Master’s student in Weizmann Institute of Science.

Maya Goldstein

I am a 3rd year undergrad student at BGU. My main interests are ecology and genetics. In my current project I study the modular multilayer structure of plant-pollinator networks. I love baking, reading and watching fantasy and sci fi movies.

Maya later got accepted as a DVM student in Hebrew University.

Klil Shahar

I’m a 3rd year undergrad at BGU, mainly interested in ecology and evolution. My project focuses on the robustness of temporal multilayer pollination networks. In my free time I like reading and birdwatching.

Klil later got accepted as a Master’s student in Sde Boker campus of BGU.

Dr. Julie Shapiro

I am a Zuckerman and Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities post-doctoral researcher at BGU. I am broadly interested in disease ecology, from zoonotic diseases to antibiotic resistance. Outside of research, I enjoy hiking, caving, science outreach, and being involved in political activism.

Julie later obtained a permanent position at Anses, the French Agency for Food, Environmental, and Occupational Health and Safety.

Rohit Sahasrabuddhe

I am a master’s student from India doing my research project at BGU. At work, I use network science to model complex systems with the goal of creating some insights into them. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling to new places and meeting new people. When indoors, I can usually be found over-analysing music, lost in a sci-fi book, or wishing to be outdoors.

Rohit later got accepted as a PhD student in Oxford university

Itai Fein

I am a 3rd-year computational biology student at BGU. My project concerns studying the connections between plasmids that allow for the flow of antibiotic resistance genes between organisms. I take a very high interest in zoology and paleontology. In my free time I like to read and watch movies.

Ofir Segev

I am a 3rd-year computational biology student at BGU. My main interests are ecology, evolution, and genetics. In my project I study the network structure and eco-evolutionary dynamics between viruses and hosts in CRISPR-induced immune diversification. My hobbies are cooking, playing the ukulele, and traveling.

Amit Michael

I am a 3rd-year student of computer science, in the bioinformatics track, at BGU. I am excited about biology, astronomy, and probability. In my project, I am exploring the robustness in consumption-production networks of bacteria and metabolites. My downtime includes watching Netflix and eating ice-cream, and I also love to travel.

Niv Dolev

I am a 3rd-year biology and computer science student at BGU. My research project concerns CRISPR-induced immunity in the bacteria-virus relationship. I love music, playing basketball and tennis, and I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Michael Monsonego

I am a 3rd-year biology and computer science student at BGU. My research project concerns CRISPR-induced immunity in the bacteria-virus relationship. I love music, playing basketball and tennis, and I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Sharon Guerstein

I am a 3rd-year student at BGU. My main interests are neuroscience, molecular biology and psychology. In my research project I study the epidemiology of COVID-19 using compartmental models. My hobbies are dancing, playing the piano and hiking.

Shir Itzhak

I am a 3rd-year student at BGU. I like making (and eating) Indian food. My main interests are genetics and understanding the relationships between organisms. In my  project I study the importance of species in multilayer vs. non-multilayer plant-pollinator networks.

Carmel Farage

I am a 3rd-year student at BGU. My main interests are ecology and genetics. In my current project I study the modular multilayer structure of plant-pollinator networks. I love going to the beach and watching thriller, drama and sci-fi movies.

Ma’ayan Dekel

I am a lab manager at BGU. I also completed my undergraduate research project in this lab, on the genetic mechanisms underlying the structure of host-virus networks. I am still discovering various interests in biology, and am particularly interested in ecological networks. In my free time I enjoy competing in debate and crocheting.
