A grant for establishing a cryo-EM national center

The application for a 300 kV cryo-TEM, and a cryo-FIB-SEM, spearheaded by our lab, was granted. This funding will enable BGU to establish a national center for macromolecular imaging.

Fabian's Hoelzgen's Pioneering Research Published in Nature Comm.

Hoelzgen, et. al., “Structural basis for the intracellular regulation of ferritin degradation”, Nature Comm 15, 3802 (2024). Utilizing state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopy, Dr. Gabriel Frank and his team at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev have elucidated the intricate interactions between NCOA4 and ferritin. This breakthrough enhances our understanding of cellular iron regulation and offers promising avenues for cancer treatment by potentially targeting these interactions to inhibit cancer cell growth.
