A central challenge in ecology is investigating how different levels of biological organization interact to influence the structure and function of natural ecological systems. To successfully confront this challenge requires both a well-developed conceptual understanding of whatever is being explored, combined with inter- and/or multi-disciplinary approach. My scientific worldview is based on an evolutionarily and ecologically mechanistic approach, combining laboratory and field experimentation with computer simulation of natural data and/or analytical models.
