Keynote Speakers

Prof. Anna Traveset, Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (CSIC, Univ. Balearic Islands), Spain. Anna studies the ecology and evolution of plant-animal interactions and how they contribute to the maintenance of biodiversity. Her work has contributed tremendously to the understanding of mutualistic interactions and their conservation.

Dr. Miguel Fortuna, Scientific Investigation Center, Spain. Miguel conducts interdisciplinary, innovative, and synthetic research at the intersection between Complex Networks, Data Science, Evolutionary Biology, Theoretical Ecology, and Computer Science. His work sheds light on the processes that generate ecological networks and how to control them, for example for phage therapy.

Prof. Laura Dee, University of Colorado, Boulder, USA. Laura combines global change ecology, community ecology, ecosystem ecology, and conservation science to study the sustainability of ecosystem services and socio-ecological systems.

Prof. Darren Evans, Newcastle University, UK. Darren studies the impacts of environmental change on species-interactions and ecosystem functioning, with a current focus on agro-ecosystems, forestry and global food supply chains. He combines advances in molecular ecology and network theory to find new ways of tackling global challenges.

Prof. Anna Eklöf, Linköping University, Sweden. Anna is a theoretical ecologist who has contributed to our understanding of food web dynamics. Her current research focuses on applied network ecology.

Prof. Stefano Allesina, University of Chicago, USA. Stefano is a theoretical ecologist interested in the response of ecological systems to perturbations. His contributions have been pivotal to understanding the link between species interactions and the stability of ecosystems.

Dr. Jacopo Grilli, The Abdus Salam ICTP, Italy. Jacopo is interested in unveiling the laws hidden in the complexity of large ecological communities.  He combines data science methods and ecological theory to study the dynamics of microbial communities.
