For structural studies, there is a need for large quantities of highly purified protein sample. Since the protein amount in natural sources is usually not sufficient, we mostely work with recombinant proteins. Therfore, we start with the DNA sequence that encodes the protein, clone this gene into an expression vector and then perform an overexpression of the protein of interest. The next step is purifying the protein by various biochemical methods. The purified protein sample is then used for numerous crystallization trials in order to find conditions in which we obtain protein crystals suitable for structure determination.
Your protein sample:
1. In order to avoid aggregates, please spin down your sample in a microcentriguge at high speed and carefully transfer it to a new microtube.
2. Sample requirement :30 µl of sample for 96 experiments.
3. Mark your sample with:
a. Your name
b. Sample name
c. Sample concentration
d. Date
